Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases (2015-03-15)–A dietary supplement containing chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine hydrochloride resulted in symptom relief equal to that of a commonly prescribed drug for treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Men and women with moderate-to-severe pain associated with knee osteoarthritis were randomly assigned to take either 200 mg of the prescription drug (celecoxib) or a supplement containing 400 mg chondroitin plus 500 mg glucosamine three times a day for six months.
